Golf & Amenities

The course, the club, the craft

A Rees Jones championship course and the private amenities that define daily life at Ballantyne.

The Rees Jones championship course

Designed by Rees Jones — son of the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. and long known as the "Open Doctor" for his championship course preparations — the eighteen holes at Ballantyne Country Club are considered among the finest private layouts in the Carolinas. Opened in 1996, the course was built on gently rolling south Charlotte terrain and routed through mature hardwoods, preserved wetlands, and reflective lakes.

At 7,143 yards from the championship tees, the course rewards thoughtful shot selection over raw power. Generous landing zones give way to precisely contoured greens; approach shots are the test. Members and guests alike remember the closing stretch — water, elevation, and a par-4 eighteenth that plays back to the clubhouse terraces.

Signature holes

The par-3 fourth plays over water to a green tucked against a bunker complex — a hole members reference in every round. The par-5 twelfth curves left through hardwoods, tempting the long hitter with a reachable second across water. The par-4 eighteenth finishes back toward the clubhouse, water down the left, with terrace diners as gallery.

Practice & instruction

A full-length driving range, dedicated short-game area, chipping greens, and practice bunkers support daily play and structured instruction. The teaching staff includes PGA-certified professionals working with junior, adult, and league programs throughout the season.
